UC DIGSSS Program is temporarily suspended for new applicants. We apologize for the inconvenience but please do check back periodically as funding may become available.
The Graduate Division makes available the UC DIGSSS Fellows Award for first-year doctoral students in the social, behavioral and economic (SBE) sciences programs. The program provides financial and academic support for doctoral students in specific fields to assist them in making a successful transition to doctoral studies by becoming fully engaged academically during the period between their first and second years.
This award is funded in large part through the National Science Foundation (NSF) as a component of the UC Diversity Initiative for Graduate Study in the Social Sciences (UC DIGSSS) grant -- a three-campus consortium comprised of UCLA, UC Berkeley and UC Santa Barbara -- to enhance doctoral student diversity in the social sciences. In accordance with NSF guidelines, this award supports students underrepresented in Ph.D. programs in NSF SBE fields in particular.
