| Description | Postgraduate fellowships are awarded for research and writing of black history and culture. Awards are for periods of 6 or 12 months. Fellows are required to be in residence at the Schomburg Center. | |
| Award Amount | Maximum stipends of $30,000 for six months and $60,000 for twelve months. | |
| Disciplines | Humanities. Life Sciences. Social Sciences. School of Arts and Architecture. School of Education and Information Studies. School of Public Health. Open to scholars in the humanities studying black history, literature and culture. Studies in the other fields are eligible if they utilize a humanistic approach. | |
| Academic Level | Postdoctoral Scholar. | |
| Citizenship | U.S. citizens or residents. Foreign nationals are eligible if they have resided in the U.S. for 3 years immediately preceding the application deadline. | |
| Requirements | Persons seeking support for research leading to a degree are not eligible. Candidates for advanced degrees must have received the degree or have completed all requirements for the degree by application deadline. | |
