Description   Supports doctoral dissertation projects which broadly relate to cardiovascular function and disease, stroke or related clinical, basic science, and public health problems. Renewable for up to 3 years of support. 
Award Amount   $22,000 stipend, plus $1,000 for health insurance and $2,000 for travel to scientific meetings, publications, supplies and equipment. 
Disciplines   Life Sciences. Social Sciences. Health Sciences. School of Public Health. Research broadly related to cardiovascular function and disease and stroke, or to related clinical, basic science, bioengineering or biotechnology, and public health problems, including multidisciplinary efforts. 
Academic Level   Working on Doctoral Dissertation.  
Citizenship   U.S. citizens and residents. Also open to holders of the following visas: F-1, J-1, H-1, H-1B, TC, TN, O-1. 
Requirements   Must be enrolled in an institution in California, Nevada, or Utah, and have a faculty sponsor.
