AMERICAN ASSOCIATION FOR THE ADVANCEMENT OF SCIENCE (AAAS), MASS MEDIA SCIENCE & ENGINEERING FELLOWS PROGRAM


Deadline   1/15/2013 
Description   AAAS selects 15-20 Mass Media Fellows each summer to work for 10 weeks during the summer as reporters, researchers, and production assistants at radio and television stations, newspapers, and magazines. The goal of the program is to improve coverage of science and technology in mass media by placing advanced science, mathematics and engineering students in newsrooms across the country. 
Award Amount   Fellows receive a weekly stipend of $450, plus airfare and travel to Washington. 
Disciplines   Life Sciences. Physical Sciences. Social Sciences. School of Engineering. Health Sciences. School of Public Health. Applicants must be enrolled in the natural, physical, health, engineering, computer, or social sciences or mathematics to apply.  
Academic Level   Prospective/Current Graduate Student. Working on Doctoral Dissertation. Postdoctoral Scholar.  
Citizenship   No citizenship requirements.  
Requirements   Applicants must be in their senior year as an undergrad or in any graduate or post-graduate level. Students majoring in English, journalism, and other non-technical fields are not eligible. Minorities and persons with disabilities are encouraged to apply.
