SMITHSONIAN INSTITUTION FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM
Deadline   1/15/2013 
Description   Three award programs are offered for research in residence at the museums, research institutes, and offices of the Smithsonian Institution. Open to postdoctoral scholars, predoctoral students conducting dissertation research, and graduate students conducting individual research. Predoctoral and postdoctoral fellowships are for a 3 to 12 month period and graduate fellowships are for a 10 week period. 
Award Amount   Postdoctoral stipends of $45,000, predoctoral stipends of $30,000, and graduate stipends of $6500. 
Disciplines   Humanities. Life Sciences. Physical Sciences. Social Sciences. School of Arts and Architecture. School of Public Health. Specific fields fellowships are available for: Animal behavior, ecology, and environmental science, including an emphasis on the tropics. Anthropology, archaeology, astrophysics and astronomy. Earth sciences and paleobiology. Evolutionary and systematic biology. History of science and technology. History of art, especially American contemporary. African and Asian art, twentieth-century. American crafts, and decorative arts. Social and cultural history of the United States. Folklife. 
Academic Level   Prospective/Current Graduate Student. Working on Doctoral Dissertation. Postdoctoral Scholar.  
Citizenship   No citizenship requirements.  
Requirements   Postdoctoral: PhD awarded within the last 7 years. Predoctoral: PhD course work completed. Graduate: at least one semester of graduate study completed. NOTE: "Smithsonian Opportunities" book, describing programs offered, is available for viewing in 1252 Murphy Hall.
