| Description | Up to 6 fellowships are awarded to postdoctoral scholars (and Ph.D. candidates in the case of the Kade Fellowship) to pursue research and writing at the Newberry. Its general collection focuses on the humanities within Western civilization from the late Middle Ages to the early twentieth century. Provides 6 to 11 months of research support. | |

| Academic Level | Prospective/Current Graduate Student. Postdoctoral Scholar. | |
| Citizenship | Open only to U.S. citizens or permanent residents. However, open to foreign nationals that have resided in the U.S. for at least 3 years. | |
| Requirements | Must be pursuing research in a field appropriate to the Newberry’s collections. Preference is given to applicants that have not held major fellowships in the last three years. Fellows are expected to contribute to the exchange of ideas among scholars at the library. | |
