UNIVERSITY OF ROCHESTER, FREDERICK DOUGLASS INSTITUTE, PRE AND POST-DOCTORAL FELLOWSHIP

Description   One postdoctoral and one predoctoral fellowship will be awarded annually to an applicant in a field related to the African and African-American experience. The postdoctoral fellowship supports the completion of a research project for one academic year while the predoctoral fellowship requires the graduate student to work with the Institute's Director in organizing colloquium, lectures, and other events with no teaching obligation.  
Award Amount   Postdoctoral fellow receives an annual stipend of $40,000 and a $3,000 fund for research-related activities. The predoctoral fellow receives an annual stipend of $26,000. 
Disciplines   Open to all fields.  
Academic Level   Working on Doctoral Dissertation. Postdoctoral Scholar.  
Citizenship   No citizenship requirements.  
Requirements   Postdoctoral applicants must be awarded the Ph.D. before the fellowship period begins. During the tenure of the award, fellows must teach two courses (one per semester). Predoctoral applicants must have written at least one chapter of the dissertation.
