| Description | Approximately 60 awards will be granted for scholars to conduct research in Japan for a period of 15 days to 11 months. Program is aimed at providing opportunities to young pre- and post-doctoral researchers from the US, Canada, and Europe to conduct, under the guidance of their hosts, cooperative research with leading research groups in universities and other Japanese institutions. | |
| Award Amount | Maintenance allowance of 364,000 Yen a month, plus a settling-in allowance of 200,000 Yen. Award includes a round-trip air ticket and insurance. | |

| Academic Level | Postdoctoral Scholar. | |
| Citizenship | Applicant must be a citizen or permanent resident of an eligible country. | |
| Requirements | Hold a doctorate degree when the fellowship goes into effect, which must have been received within ten year prior to April 2 of that year. Applicant must have arranged in advance a research plan with a Japanese host. | |
