JSPS POSTDOCTORAL FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM (SHORT-TERM) FOR NORTH AMERICAN AND EUROPEAN RESEARCHERS


Deadline   Open Deadline 
- Host institutes have six application deadlines. Applicants should contact them well in advance of the deadline.
Description   Approximately 60 awards will be granted for scholars to conduct research in Japan for a period of 15 days to 11 months. Program is aimed at providing opportunities to young pre- and post-doctoral researchers from the US, Canada, and Europe to conduct, under the guidance of their hosts, cooperative research with leading research groups in universities and other Japanese institutions.  
Award Amount   Maintenance allowance of 364,000 Yen a month, plus a settling-in allowance of 200,000 Yen. Award includes a round-trip air ticket and insurance. 
Disciplines   Humanities. Life Sciences. Physical Sciences. Social Sciences.  
Academic Level   Postdoctoral Scholar.  
Citizenship   Applicant must be a citizen or permanent resident of an eligible country. 
Requirements   Hold a doctorate degree when the fellowship goes into effect, which must have been received within ten year prior to April 2 of that year. Applicant must have arranged in advance a research plan with a Japanese host.
