LAWRENCE LIVERMORE NATIONAL LABORATORY (LLNL), LAWRENCE SCHOLARS PROGRAM

Description   Up to 15 fellowships are awarded annually to graduate students to carry out research in subjects related to the goals and missions of LLNL. Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory is a premier applied-science national security laboratory, and its primary mission is to ensure that the nation's nuclear weapons remain safe, secure, reliable, and to prevent the spread and use of them worldwide. Fellowships will be awarded for a maximum of 4 years following commencement of thesis research. 
Award Amount   A monthly stipend of $4,120 during the summer and $2,060 monthly during the academic year (at 50% time), plus graduate tuition expenses of up to $10,000.. 
Disciplines   Life Sciences. Physical Sciences. School of Engineering. Including physics, astrophysics, laser science, computer science, biology, genetics and biotechnology, materials science, and related disciplines. 
Academic Level   Working on Doctoral Dissertation.  
Citizenship   No citizenship requirements.  
Requirements   Must be a full-time student pursuing a graduate degree in an eligible discipline at a U.C. institution, have completed the majority of coursework, have successfully passed any required comprehensive examinations, and have the approval of their academic advisor to begin thesis research. Students must work full-time at LLNL on their research.
