UC SANTA CRUZ, GURU GOBIND SINGH FELLOWSHIP COMPETITION

Description   In 1988 the University of California received a bequest from the late Mr. Karam Singh Maughan to establish an endowment to support graduate fellowships (named for Guru Gobind Singh, the Sikh religious leader) to be awarded to graduates of universities in a specific area of India and Pakistan for the purpose of pursuing graduate study at the University of California.  
Award Amount   Stipend of $30,000 per academic year. 
Disciplines   Open to all fields.  
Academic Level   Prospective/Current Graduate Student. Working on Doctoral Dissertation.  
Citizenship   No citizenship requirements.  
Requirements   For graduates of Indian and Pakistani universities in the Punjab region currently pursuing a graduate degree at any campus of the University of California who has not engaged previously in graduate study at any other institute of higher learning in the United States. Applicants must be committed to returning to his or her country of origin after receiving the degree. At UCLA, preference will be given to students who will have advanced to candidacy by the start of the fellowship year. Must be nominated by the Graduate Division.
