NATIONAL INSTITUTES OF HEALTH (NIH) NATIONAL INSTITUTE ON AGING (NIA), AGING RESEARCH DISSERTATION AWARDS TO INCREASE DIVERSITY


Deadline   1/8/2013 
Description   Up to 5 dissertation research grants are awarded to provide support for underrepresented minority students to complete their research on an aging-related topic and to increase their representation in aging research. A grant is for a maximum of two years and is nonrenewable. 
Award Amount   A maximum stipend of $20,000 per year. 
Disciplines   Life Sciences. Physical Sciences. Social Sciences. Health Sciences. School of Public Health. Including biomedical, behavioral, clinical and social sciences. 
Academic Level   Working on Doctoral Dissertation.  
Citizenship   Open only to U.S. citizens or permanent residents.  
Requirements   Program provides funds for individuals from diverse backgrounds to conduct dissertation research on aging, with funds or support not readily or sufficiently available in NRSA predoctoral (F31) programs, which limit support to stipends, tuition and fees, and institutional allowance. These awards are available to predoctoral students from backgrounds underrepresented in research who are enrolled in good standing in accredited research doctoral programs in the United States (including Puerto Rico and other U.S. territories or possessions).
