| Description | One or more three-year fellowships are awarded to historically excluded or underrepresented students conducting dissertation research in the microbiological sciences. | |

| Disciplines | Life Sciences. Health Sciences. Including bacteriology, virology, mycology, protozoology, immunology, biochemistry, biotechnology, cell biology, and genetics. | |
| Academic Level | Working on Doctoral Dissertation. | |
| Citizenship | Open only to U.S. citizens or permanent residents. | |
| Requirements | Must have completed the first year of a doctoral program in the microbiological sciences in an accredited United States institution. Must be a member of an underrepresented minority group (African American, Hispanic American, Native American or Native Pacific Islander) in the sciences. Student and mentor must be members of ASM. | |
