DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY NATIONAL NUCLEAR SECURITY ADMINISTRATION STEWARDSHIP SCIENCE GRADUATE FELLOWSHIP (DOE NNSA SSGF)

Description   The Department of Energy National Nuclear Security Administration Stewardship Science Graduate Fellowship (DOE NNSA SSGF) program provides excellent financial benefits and professional development opportunities to students pursuing a PhD in fields of study that solve complex science and engineering problems critical to stewardship science. Renewable up to four years. 
Award Amount   $36,000 stipend plus tuition; $1,000 yearly academic allowance to be used for research or professional development expenses. 
Disciplines   Physical Sciences. Open to senior undergraduate students and first- and second-year PhD students focusing their studies on high energy density physics, nuclear science, or properties of materials under extreme conditions and hydrodynamics. 
Academic Level   Prospective/Current Graduate Student.  
Citizenship   Open only to U.S. citizens or permanent residents.  
Requirements   The summer should be spent conducting full-time research related to the completion of one's degree, enrolled in classes or on a practicum assignment at one of the DOE NNSA laboratories. Each Fellow's department must waive any teaching requirements beyond one term.
