CSC-UCLA SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

Description   The Cross-disciplinary Scholars in Science and Technology (CSST) office coordinates the CSC-UCLA Scholarship Program on the UCLA campus. The Program provides funding for qualified students from China to enroll in PhD programs at UCLA, and thereby fostering an environment where mutually beneficial research collaborations may develop between UCLA and Chinese universities. This Program provides two tracks for PhD student funding: 1) CSC Tuition track, 2) CSC Stipend track. Forty fellowships in each track will be awarded annually, totaling 80 fellowships per year. Both tracks are jointly funded by the China Scholarship Council (CSC) and UCLA (UCLA funds may come from any source available to the admitting PhD program or PhD advisor.)

Disciplines   Open to all fields. Humanities. Life Sciences. Physical Sciences. Social Sciences. School of Engineering. School of Management. Health Sciences. School of Public Health. School of Law. All disciplines, but with priority given to the following fields: Information Technology, Life Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, Public Health, Nanoscience, Nanotechnology, Energy, Environment, Space Study, Maritime Study, Physical Sciences, Pure and Applied Mathematics, New Materials, Manufacture, Agriculture, Food and Land Planning, Use, and Resources, Law, Business and Management, Humanities and Applied Social Sciences. 
Academic Level   Prospective/Current Graduate Student.  
Citizenship   Citizens of the People’s Republic of China are eligible to apply. Residents of Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Macau are not eligible. 
Requirements   Applicants may apply to only one track, and all applicants must be admitted by a UCLA PhD program or be enrolled in the first year of a PhD program. Tuition track is available to applicants who have successfully completed a CSST Summer Program. Stipend track is available to applicants who have not participated in any CSST programs. Tuition Track – Fellowships cover airfare, visa application fees, tuition, supplemental tuition (aka NRT), student services fees, health insurance, and at least $1,600 per month ($19,200/yr) stipend for two years. Applicants must receive supplemental funding from UCLA and apply directly to the CSC for the 2 year CSC Tuition Scholarship. Stipend Track – Fellowships cover airfare, visa application fees, health insurance, and at least $1,600 per month ($19,200/yr) stipend for four years. Applicants must receive supplemental funding from UCLA and apply directly to the CSC for the 4 year CSC Stipend Fellowship.
