UC GLOBAL HEALTH INSTITUTE UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, GLOCAL HEALTH FELLOWSHIP

Description   11-month mentored research fellowship program that provides its trainees with outstanding, interdisciplinary education and training opportunities designed to improve the health conditions of populations around the world. 
Award Amount   Stipends up to $20000 for students and postdocs and $50,000 for junior faculty. Health insurance, travel cost to international field site and tuition support for 2-3 online courses is included.

Academic Level   Prospective/Current Graduate Student. Working on Doctoral Dissertation. Postdoctoral Scholar.  
Citizenship   US Citizens, US Permanent Residents or citizens from one of the 14 countries represented in the fellowship program.  
Requirements   All applicants must have the support of one of the four UC campuses participating in the fellowship (UCSF, UCSD, UCLA, UCD) as well as an affiliated international site, including committed mentors from both the UC and the international site. PhD students should have completed their Master's-level coursework, and professional doctoral degree candidates should have completed their basic science courses and one year of clinical training. Doctoral students who are enrolled in a joint doctoral program between a UC and another university (e.g., SDSU) are eligible to apply. Junior faculty must have a current NIH Career Developmental Award (K series) or similar. Foreign post-doctoral fellows must be from 25 participating international sites in Lower-Middle Income Countries. Senior professional students (MD, DDS, DVM, PharmD, etc.) in health-related disciplines (human or animal) such as medicine, nursing, dentistry, optometry, etc. Advanced doctoral students (PhD, DrPH, etc.) in fields such as health sciences, social and behavioral sciences, nutrition, environment, etc.
