Before You Apply

Please review the full program descriptions and eligibility requirements as described in the Summer Programs for Undergraduate & Graduate Research Booklet. Application to the program implies your agreement to fully participate in the program. You may select up to two programs to which to apply.

Your application file will be sent to the program deemed best suited to your research interest. Consequently, you may be contacted by a Coordinator from a program that differs from the one to which you had originally applied.

UC LEADS scholars should not submit an application. Contact your UC LEADS coordinator to find out how to be considered for the UCLA Summer Programs for Undergraduate Research.

Application Form

All applicants must complete an  Online Application Form.

Supporting Materials

After completing the Online Application Form you will view the confirmation page, which includes a list of additional supporting materials required by the program(s) you've selected. The documents listed below must be submitted with your application if you have chosen one of the following programs:

  • Center for Research, Education, Training, and Strategic Communication on Minority Health Disparities (CRETSCMHD) Summer Program
  • Graduate Division Summer Program for Undergraduate Research (GDSPUR)
  • Master the Doctorate (MTD)
  • UCLA NSF Alliance for Graduate Education and the Professoriate (AGEP) Summer Research Scholars
  1. One Letter of Recommendation (PDF-168KB)
    Should be from a faculty member who can best assess your ability for academic research and your motivation for graduate school.
     
  2. An official copy of your Transcript (with Fall 2009 grades posted). If Fall 2009 grades are not posted, your application will be incomplete and not reviewed.
     
  3. Your Personal Statement (iPDF-222KB)
     
  4. Your Financial Statement (iPDF-195KB)
     
  5. Verification of Your Current Financial Aid Package. If you are currently receiving financial aid, the program requires a copy of one of the following documents: Financial Aid Award Letter, Financial Aid Contract or Financial Aid Transcript covering the 2009-2010 academic year.
