Each associate dean works for designated campus sectors. This is intended to encourage the development of more in-depth knowledge of issues and challenges facing graduate education in the different areas of our campus.

Additionally, each Associate Dean is given primary responsibility over selected functional areas. Joseph Watson has responsibility for Postdoctoral Fellows and Visiting Scholars, Visiting Graduate Researcher policy, and serves as the liaison to the Graduate Council Committee on Degree Programs. Carlos Grijalva has major responsibility for fellowships, outreach and diversity issues, and serves as the liaison to the Graduate Council Committee on Fellowships and Assistantships. Robin Garrell has responsibility for academic program review, training grants, and Visiting Graduate Researcher policy. Sam Bersola has responsibility for graduate student housing.
