Postdoctoral Scholar Labor Union Contract

New DOS Codes for Title Codes 3253 and 3254
Under the terms of the Postdoctoral Scholars labor union contract, UC campuses are required to collect compensation information for all title codes. In addition, UC campuses are required to collect dues and fees for postdoctoral scholars holding the title codes 3252 and 3253.

Payroll Services implemented the programming into PPS for the dues/fees collection for 3252s in December 2010. Last week, the UC Office of the President (UCOP) released additional updates to PPS to facilitate the calculation and collection of dues and fees for 3253s. Two new DOS codes were created with this update and will be required for all 3253 and 3254 appointments in EDB. The following instructions explain how to add the new DOS codes into PPS:

  1. Adding, Updating or Separating a 3253 or 3254 (PDF-516KB)

  2. PX Union Dues/Agency Fees Implementation (PDF-659KB)

All postdoctoral scholar appointments must include these new DOS codes when the appointment is first entered into EDB.

Dues and Fees Collection and Separating a Postdoctoral Scholar in EDB
Dues or fees will be deducted from all payments, including separation payments for postdoctoral scholars.
